People do love to rag on this game's combat and if you've read the other reviews you might be wondering what's so bad about it. As you get more experienced at Civilization the game begins to follow more and more of a cookie cutter pattern, whereas with Endless Legend every single new game feels like an entirely fresh experience. max tradition, beeline civic service, etc.) In Endless Legend however this could not be further from the truth: there are a million different combinations of resources that can generate in your spawn, and since most resources are too game-changing to ignore you are basically forced to come up with a new strategy every single time. On paper both Civ 5 and EL give you a similar number of choices for different techs, policies, etc, but in Civ 5 the exact same tech path, social policy order, and even build order will be the best possible choice around 90% of the time (e.g. If you're coming from the Civilization franchise then many of the game mechanics here will feel familiar, but at the same time you might be happy to know that Endless Legend has far, far more depth. Quite possibly the best strategy game I've ever played and criminally underrated in my opinion.
